Another British maker, producing the Swan brand — lever-fill pens in black hard rubber and later celluloid, from the 1890s through the 1950s. Early eyedropper-fill hard rubber Swans are among the oldest collectable British pens. Nib quality on Swan pens is often excellent.
A high-value category in vintage fountain pens — Japanese lacquerwork pens sold through Alfred Dunhill's London shops from the 1920s and 1930s. Maki-e lacquer decoration depicting natural subjects is painstakingly hand-applied. We assess Dunhill-Namiki for lacquer quality, subject, and condition.

Not necessarily. Non-writing vintage pens are not without value — a cracked sac is a simple restoration task. A damaged nib reduces value more significantly. We assess the pen for what it is and reflect condition accurately in our written offer.

Yes, materially. A complete pen and pencil set in original presentation box with original papers is worth more than the same set without its case. Original boxes in good condition are increasingly rare and add both financial and historical value.
