Before any clearance, have the watches, jewellery, coins, and silver professionally assessed. This takes a few days and can save thousands of pounds.

What our estate valuation includes

Why specialist assessment before house clearance

House clearance companies are paid to empty properties. They are not qualified to identify a gold sovereign in a tin of buttons, a valuable hallmarked silver item among plate, or a rare pocket watch in a drawer of miscellaneous items. We have seen estates where items worth thousands of pounds were sent to a clearance skip because nobody checked them first.

A specialist assessment takes a few days and costs nothing. Send us the watches, jewellery, coins, and silver from the estate before the clearance company arrives. Everything that has value receives a written valuation; everything else is returned at no charge.

Frequently asked questions

What is an estate clearance valuation?

An estate clearance valuation is a professional assessment of the valuable personal property within an estate. Unlike a house clearance (which focuses on removing and disposing of contents), a valuation focuses on identifying items of value and determining their open market worth. This protects the executor or family from unknowingly disposing of valuable items at a loss.

How do I know which items in an estate are valuable?

You do not need to know — that is what the specialist assessment is for. Photograph everything that could potentially have value (watches, jewellery, coins, silver, medals, stamps, vintage cameras, antiques) and submit the photographs for a preliminary assessment. We will advise which items justify full physical assessment. Many of the most valuable items in estates are not the ones that look most impressive.

Can you assess an entire estate in one go?

Yes. We assess mixed collections covering multiple categories: watches and jewellery alongside coins, silver, medals, and collectibles. You do not need to sort items into categories or consult multiple specialists. We provide a single written schedule covering everything submitted.

What happens to items that are not valuable?

We are transparent if items submitted have minimal resale value. Modern costume jewellery, common modern coins, damaged base-metal items, and mass-produced decorative items may have little or no resale value. We will advise honestly and return anything we cannot offer on at no cost to you.

How quickly can you assess estate items?

For standard estate submissions (a box of watches, jewellery, and coins), written valuations are typically returned within 5–7 working days. For very large estates or specialist collections, we will advise on the expected timeline when the items are received. If there is urgency (a property must be vacated by a specific date), contact us in advance to discuss timing.
